Introduction: Dairy farming is common praxis among Herat Province farmers. FAO Dairy Project (Development of Integrated Dairy schemes in Herat) which take place in Herat provinces is formed from 10 milk producer cooperatives societies. These cooperatives associated dairy farmers who will sell their milk surplus on a daily basis in milk collection centers. Collected milk wills daily transport to Herat Industrial Parks Dairy plant. There are ten dairy farmers cooperative in Gazara, Enjil and Karukh Districts of Herat Province and all of them managed by Herat Dairy Union (HDU). The facility is processing 5,000lit/d by HTST system. The dairy processing equipments such as yoghurt cup filling and sealing unit, butter churn, milk pouch filling and sealing machine, Cream Separator, Milk Pasteurizer , Milk Homogenizer…. will install(in near future) in the Industrial Park(Dairy Plant) for HDU by FAO support and the system is functional and is fully managing by HDU technical staff and leadership. The union has also made significant investments in feed materials and the HDU currently have concentrate feed processing facilities with 2Mt /day capacity at Industrial Park (dairy plant).
